Do you know what we really love about hog roasts? (Besides the mouthwatering taste, obviously.) It’s that they’re perfect any time of year. Summer BBQ? Yep. Cosy Christmas party? Absolutely. Basically, if there’s a reason to gather there’s a reason for a hog roast.
So when Guy Fawkes Night rolled around, it’s safe to say our phones at Hog Roast Whitchurch didn’t stop buzzing. Everyone wanted in on the action – big companies, local businesses, families throwing garden parties – you name it. Bonfires, fireworks and a hog roast feast? I mean, that’s a winning combo right there!
One of our favourite calls came from The Long House, a stunning Grade II listed gem tucked among hedgerows and rolling countryside. It had “village bonfire party” written all over it.
Hog Roast Whitchurch’s catering maestro, Olly, was the first to arrive on-site (as usual) and was eager to get the show on the road before guests trickled in. The order of the night? Our legendary pork roast! So Olly got right to it – scoring the skin just so, rubbing in a good dose of salt, a splash of water for that perfect crackle, and then letting our trusty HogMaster take over.
As the pork slowly sizzled and spat over a low flame, the scent alone had everyone’s stomachs growling. Those glorious juices dripped into a tray of sage and onion stuffing, which soaked up all that flavour. Meanwhile, the team whipped up fresh applesauce and a rainbow of grilled veggie and halloumi skewers for our plant-based pals. No one goes hungry at a Hog Roast Whitchurch event!
By 6:30 pm, the bonfire was blazing, the sky was popping with fireworks, and seventy excited guests had gathered, ready to celebrate. With his carving knife in hand, Olly worked his magic and was soon serving up sandwiches packed with golden crackling, tender pulled pork, and sweet, sweet applesauce. The vegetarians weren’t disappointed either – those kebabs were a massive hit!
The night went off without a single hiccup. Our client got to mingle, relax, and soak up the atmosphere, while we kept everyone fed and happy. And as for the guests? Well, let’s just say they’ll be talking about that bonfire night (and our roast!) for a long, long time.
